Is internet dating becoming socially acceptable?

I always thought it was for losers but now it seems that everyone is doing it. My psychology books say it isn't a good way to date.

it's 2007 now, internet dating isnt just for losers anymore. Its really just a foot in the door so to speak, the normal rules of attraction will still apply. A person does have to be a little more careful of who you agree to meet in person due to the anonymity the internet provides. The flip side of that is you can get to know a person's inside first. I know a lot of people who have met via online dating, chat rooms and even online gaming. It's definately much less taboo than it was 5 years ago.
