I've heard that it is a good idea to get a professionally done picture - at a place like Sears - to put w/your ad. Any experience/suggestions?
Internet dating question - is it a good idea to get a professional quality pix - and where would you recommend
You don't need to go out and get a professional picture taken. It is much better to post a variety of pictures that reflect what you actually look like. Just follow these general rules -
1. Use only recent pictures. And recent means within the last six months. It does no good to masquerade behind pictures that are flattering but 15 years old.
2. Make sure you can be clearly seen at least from the waist up. Nothing is more frustrating when surfing the personals than people who attach thumbnail sized pics of themselves or pictures of just their eyes or lips. Potential suitors need to be able to see what you look like.
3. Don't be sexy. Just post normal, recent, flattering pictures of yourself where you don't have food falling out of your mouth. Don't try and be sexy or erotic. That comes later.
Oh and also - you should listen to Richard Hurtz - he knows all about how to get a man.
Reply:You can, but then you run into copyrighted policys and can actually be sued. Your best bet is just use a good picture taken from a digital camera with at least a 3 megapixel setting. So when you crop the picture, it doesn't lose its quality.
Reply:I would avoid that - most people want a REAL pic and not something done professionally. I won't respond to a ad that has a professional looking pic because I'm not sure it really is the person in the ad or if the stole if from somewhere else.
Reply:Yeah, anyone who needs to put an "ad" online to find a date is a loser! Not to mention "sears" is hardly "professional quality" photography.
