Internet Dating? Agree or Disagree?

I believe some people can find their soulmate or fall in love with someone they meet online. But friend of mine is willing to give up the world for a guy she;s never met. He is in the country he is in illegally and if he leaves he can't go anywhere else in the world because he lost his passport the country he and his family were seeking refuge. It sounds very very fishy to me. I don't know what to tell her. She believes he is the man she is gonna spend the rest of her life with.

Firstly, ya gotta be careful with online relationships. They always start off sounding WONDERFUL...i do hope they are atleast talking on the phone. No relationship should be rushed rather u meet Mr. wonderful at the club, church, in a college class or doing pilattes or online. They should meet (and in a place where lots of people are ALWAYS around for safety) because sometimes people appear one way online and is completely different IRL. Online dating can be fun and is more conversational however so many things are at risk like her heart. She is in so deep she could be crushed like shoe on a soda can, especially if things dont go past talking online. I dont think people should go this route cause they go back and forth with the "i never see u blues and i miss u consantly"...IRL we wouldnt accept this atleast i wouldnt. Tell her to be careful and be protective of her heart and to see both sides of the spectrum, just in case her world comes crashing down. Meanwhile i think she should casually date if they cannot be together and truely DATE. Cause then it becaomes nothing more than typing pretty words.





ps...online dating is cool cause u fall for eachother on a more verbal level but be ware and good luck to her
Reply:Normally, the situation would be ok. However, do you know how many illegals try to get somebody to marry them just so that they can become a citizen? Tie her up for six months until she can see what may happen.


My neighbor corresponded with a Philippine for three years. She left everything to come and marry him. He is a paraplegic. She takes care of him and works two jobs. She is loved by all. These relationships work if the right two meet.

Reply:Some people always rant on about how dangerous it is to meet someone off the net, but in reality it is probably safer to meet someone off the net, that it would be to meet them in say a bar. Reason for this is that if you meet someone off the net, chances are you (or the authorities) would be able to locate their IP number and track them down if something went wrong. If you meet someone in a bar and something goes wrong, you have little hope of locating them after !!!!!!
