Internet dating sights are stupid?

You don't freely meet anybody, you have to jump through all their hoops, meet their standards , criteria , requirements, its nothing but stress, its no fun, what ever happened to lets go out and hang out, see if we like each other? instead you get...

you have to be 6 ft. tall 180lbs. this type of hair color and this long, that type of eyes, pet lover or no pet lover, this kind of job, this kind of house in the country, in the city, and you have to have this education and you have to make this kind of money. Like this kind of music. No wonder why people don't get along anymore! society is brain washing us, and someone it just making money off of it. HOW STUPID!!!

Internet dating sights are stupid?
AGREEEED!!! I just posted a question about something similiar..I met a guy on myspace. He and I got along so great. Of course we saw each others slide shows, pictures..etc..Noone lied about their looks. He kept praising the fact that we were actually getting to know each other on the "inner" level before we physically meet. This went on for a few weeks. We would stay up til all hours of the night and then have to tred to work the next day dog tired. But still, I couldnt wait til the night came to do it allllll over. We met, I felt dumb. I was so extremely nervous. He told me the next day that he didnt feel the same. His exact words were.."I've changed" meaning..his mind...wow....what total BULL..SH..IT....can you imagine.....problem was I think..is when people meet online you have this fantasy about them...like when time stands still and their hair blows back and they run in slow motion like on t,v..then u meet and realize this person actually coughs and sneezes and walks around...not like in the pics.....GRRRRRRRRRRRR..Heartbroke again.....go figure...I mean..hey..even if it is over the phone and internet...its still the same emotions..and feelings....
Reply:are you trying to convince us or are you trying to find something out? cause it looks like you have the answer somewhere in that crudely worded 2 paragraphs
Reply:The point of dating sites is exactly so you can filter out people you know you won't get along with. Of course ultimately it comes down to chemistry, but filtering on certain criteria can be extremely useful and I don't feel it's "stupid".

Who has time anymore to take time to get to know someone and then realize "wow, this person is completely wrong for me - I just wasted 6 months!"?
Reply:That is semi-true. I met my guy on a dating website and he is this white guy that has crazy @$$ hair, works a good job, is in a band and likes heavy metal/punk music. I on the other hand am a black girl, works at Abercrombie and Fitch, likes modern music, cheerleader, uber preppy, and is the total opposite of my guy. But we like each other for that reason. It's not all about criteria, it's about getting along and liking the person for who they are.
