Is internet dating sad or a valid way to meet someone?

I move a couple of years from my home town to another leaving all my friends behind, concequently its hard to get out and about to meet people.

Is internet dating sad or a valid way to meet someone?
I think it's a great way to meet someone. I met my current boyfriend online and it's nice to read profiles and see who's out there. I don't hang at the bars and have alot of trouble being somewhere where there are single men, so this was a good solution for me. My bf and I have made a life-long commitment and I couldn't be happier. Good luck!
Reply:Well I think the Internet is a good place to meet people, but as for dating, I must say, it's kinda pathetic. Like if you meet someone in your area, you probably wouldn't want to ask them out online, but instead, meet somewhere and ask her out there.

Reply:As long as it does not replace but compliments your 'real life' interactions, sometimes from looking at peoples profiles you can get more of an idea what is motivating your search for a partner be it sex or relationship

I met my wife online two years ago and moved here to the Philippines to be with her, we have a baby due in January and couldn't be happier.


I also have many friends I talk to almost daily, I met mostly at Yahoo Messenger.


So if that's sad, please make me sadder if possible!

I think the reason that makes it sad and abnormal are the people itself, because the net is over populated by the wrong people. It isn't sad at all, I guess in 50 years time most of the people would just be dating in front of their PC's. :)
