Would you save a internet dating person from jail in another country?
1) To the best of my knowledge, there is no such law in India that prohibits one from marrying an American. In fact, considering that Inida was a British colony, there are quite a few British people living there. Several of those British people are married with the Indians there.

2) That person said he has received the package that you sent him? Did he take any pictures of him holding some of the things that you sent him? Reason I ask this is, I have heard of many internet romance scams that sound like what you are describing. Please check out http://www.anti-scam.org for more details. This site has a long list of scammers and their names. Please make sure that his name is not on the list.

3) How can you bring him over to the America though? Do you plan on bringing him over with a fiance visa? If so, you would need to be there too because the US government won't grant him anything if you are not there with him. And also, granting a visa takes time; judging by the urgency of his case (according to you, he is going to be killed in just a few months), you may want to contact the US embassy in India to get involved. And also, you will probably need to go to India yourself to meet with the ambassador and the Indian guy yourself to work things out.
Reply:No offense, but are you saying the judge is going to take testimony from you from your *HOME* computer? That screams scam!!! If they were to have your testimony by video conferencing, at the very least it would be insisited that it be done at your local courthouse. Report It

Reply:This has to be a joke.If not(and this is just in case)get in touch with a humanitarian group.geeez.
Reply:you met him online never met him and you are in love??

sure uh huh... and let me guess he wants you to send him $$ so he can come here? SCAM ...good lord people, you can create documents, pictures, anything if you're willing to take the time..

Send him the $$ or whatever but don't whine on here when you never hear from him again after HANDING him $$.
Reply:if its is true love then yes
Reply:No offense but you are full of it. There's no way that this is happening to a guy in India merely for dating an American. Either you are lying or he has actually done something else to warrant prosecution. So you can just go away or take heed that you are being duped.
Reply:That sound like a big scam, I never hear a history like that is ridiculous, I don't believe sorry if you believe in these history.
Reply:What?! Are you going to send him money? Are you looking for donations? Lady - if you are for real, you're either a very bad con-artist, or you fell for a very bad con-artist. Either way, they ain't gonna kill this guy for going with an American - this is one of the most ridiculous ones I have ever seen. Please tell me it's a joke! It is, right?!
Reply:This is truly a sad love story. (You should consider writing a book)

%26lt;%26lt;They are not please he is dating a american. So they put him in jail for 6 months %26gt;%26gt;

%26lt;%26lt;he is now going to be killed %26gt;%26gt;

That is a harsh penalty for dating an American. You should tell them there was a mistake and that you are Canadian. Maybe he will get a lighter sentence.

%26lt;%26lt;he never was given a wife%26gt;%26gt;

However, it sounds like the Indian government failed him. If they had given him a wife, he would not have been dating on the Internet.
Reply:All I can say is one thing.

ILLEGAL MEXICANS THINK WE ARE RACIST AND TOUGH ON THEM, THEY AIN'T SEEN NOTIING YET!!
Reply:This sounds pretty damn stupid. Could make a good book though
Reply:i know many people in india. they can date anyone they want. depending on what you sent in the package, some countries consider some items illegal. you stated you have seen photo's and paperwork and its for real. its nor as there are many scams out of india and other countries using single sites to get money, get to america and get married. they are all illegal. i investigate scams from countries everyday. i have gotten actual phone numbers and called talking to the people only to discover the scam as it goes along. you have a better chance at winning the lottery than getting the real info. they use photo's of beautiful women to get the guys and vis-versa. they will give you numbers in that country and places that are real to keep you going. you claim after the trial, he will get killed or become homeless they say. who said that to you? other countries as strict as they are would do one or the other. your in a scam and no i would never bring them over unless i met them by going there to check them out.
Reply:Start a website, ask for support monetarily, and get a P.O. Box where they can send support to.

Spread the word.

I should tell you though that these situations are as tricky as Muslims who go on trial with the penalty of Death for converting to Christianity.

I feel for you, but it is also my opinion that you guys are treading. If he has the chance to start his life back up in India, you may need to let him do that.

Blessings,

Cheryl
