First letters in Internet dating?

...What would women between the ages of 22 and 35 want to know from a first letter on any online dating site. Often their profiles are no more than a few lines, so my letter are often just a little bit longer...what are the top 3 or 5 things you seek in a first letter and what are the top 3 or 5 things that cause you to hit the delete button without a second of hesitation?

First letters in Internet dating?
First off, I would want to know that the guy actually read my profile and isn't sending me some form letter that he sends to every single woman on the site. I've seen letters that I'm SURE are form letters and I ignore them. If a guy can't take the time to write me a personal letter, then I can't be bothered to respond.

I'd want to know what you think we have in common. Do we both enjoy the same music or movies? What drew you to my profile? What is something you think we'd enjoy doing together?

There's better not be a letter at all if you don't meet one of my requirements or you are a "no" - meaning if I say I want to date a non-smoker, I don't care if you're trying to quit, right now you're a smoker and I don't want to hear from you. If I say I want to meet guys who are over 5'10" and you're 5'7", then move on.

Otherwise, the first letter shouldn't be a novel and should really just be a brief introduction, invitation to view your profile, and an entry point for future conversation and a meetup.
Reply:You just need to check some dating tips. Seems most quality dating sites provide such services.
Reply:I would say that I liked what I saw in their profile and I want to know more. I would then introduce myself and give a little bit of more obvious information like age, location, job. I'd ask a few questions that aren't addressed in their profile and then say that I hope to hear back from them. If they respond then just expand from there and create a dialogue.
Reply:I'm not between those ages, but I would like if the person puts his age, what he does for a living, and what he likes about girls.
Reply:i don't do that whole internet dating web junk but i would recommend talking about them, people love to talk about themselves, and don't come on too strong
Reply:I wouldn't trust internet dating. You never know if the truth is being told or if the pics are genuine.

Go meet REAL people.
Reply:The top things that make me hit delete ...............No pic.......No smile....... Sun glasses being worn in pic........Beer bottle in the pic.........And usually a flirt and not an e-mail.

The top things I would want to know in the first letter......... How long have you been on the dating sites................What your experiences have been................... What you are looking for ..............What you do........What you like to do with your free time........ If you have kids and what your relationship is with any x-wife. Looking for sincerety in the words spoken............
Reply:Try responding with something complementary. Normally they have photos. If you think her eyes are beautiful, let her know. Most ladies enjoy a gentleman that's good for her ego.
Reply:I tend to hit the delete button when guys are too pushy or too aggressive. I don't like it when guys state the obvious. I like to speak to people that have an overall funny personality and say something different. I had one guy notice that I have a cat and said something about her.
