With internet dating, how can you tell if someone is real or fake?

Reply:Well this is what I'd do. I'd print out and save each email. And then I'd kinda ask a question further into each email correspondence (like if the person said they were a fireman in the first email or somethign like that, you could ask in later emails how did work go today, etc)...It's got to be hard to see if someoen's lying when it's the written word. At least if you meet someone at a bar, someoen ELSE is bound to KNOW that person and at least give you some sort of insight.

Reply:If you've ever watched the internet scams that Dateline has exposed, you will learn that you can't tell if someone is real or fake. Shop around for dates locally with someone you know or your friends know. Internet dating is at best dangerous.
Reply:You really cannot tell, it is difficult. Be careful if you want to meet the person though, you never know who that person is and what might he do to you...

And even then, you don't know if that person is fake because they may pretending to be someone who they are not.


Who knows...that's why they advise you NOT to get tooo involved with online dating.

I did it, but, before I met the guy in person, I ordered a background report on him.





I'm glad I did. He had been in jail for stalking a female, as well as using his deceased father's Social Security Number.

Reply:its just one of those things u never know. the best thing to do is not fall for that and go find someone in REAL life. you feel a better connection to someone face to face, and alot of ppl need physical love as well....cuddling, hugging, kissing, etc. i would suggest not going for it because all it does is cause problems. good luck.

Reply:Be suspicious and follow your instincts. If they sound too good to be true, they probably are. Be cautious if you decide to meet . Meet with friends for the first time or atleast in a public place. Don't lend money, give extravagant gifts or overly trust.
