Do internet dating sites work?

I put a profile up, but I'm skeptical about paying for it, and it seems you have to pay to contact other members. Is it worth the money? Has anyone had success with this?

Do internet dating sites work?
I think the success of finding someone on an online dating website would be equal only to the amount of effort you put into it. Be prepared to send a ton of messages, and hope to only get a few responses and then hope that there is one or two decent %26amp; normal women hidden in that handful of responses. Not trying to be a downer, just realistic. I think you can definitely find a partner this way, but don't get discouraged if it takes a while. Just like dating people in other ways, you've got to sift through alot of weirdos to find the right person, and this requires alot of work, but is worth it in the long run. Try free sites, like myspace, etc before paying for one though. It's better to get the feel of things for free then paying while you learn. GOOD LUCK!! Hope you find that special person!!
Reply:I have tried several ( I am ashamed to admit) and non of them have worked out, (in my opinion) you would be better off going to clubs and bars and/or put up a free profile and let the ladies who pay fo rthe service contact you, that way it does not cost you anything.

Reply:Dude, there are sooooo many match-making websites that paying for something like that is a joke. Don't pay.

Reply:no you just meet a lot of pervs
Reply:I tried it for a few months and got mixed results. They really work better if you live in a big city. I live in a small town and there wasn't many people near to me.

Here are some of the things about the dating website I didn't like:

1. Women frequently lied in their profile about their weight.

2. In a lot of cases the photos women have are very old and they don't look like that now.

3. Be aware of the "attention getters." These women love attention but don't have any intentions of really finding one person like they may say in their profile.

4. You should see a red flag when you look at someone's profile and they are in their late 20's and it says they will go any distance and any age and their picture looks like a model.

Good luck and hope my advice helps!
